competitionsThe PMTNM Honors Audition is a competitive event open to piano, instrumental, and voice students at the district and state levels. The program was designed to encourage students to study, prepare, and present recital-caliber repertoire in a polished performance. For more information, click here.
The Sonata Contest was created by members of the SFMTA for students in Santa Fe and Los Alamos. There are 10 levels that students can enter, and all sonatas and sonatinas are set for each level. For more information, click here. The MTNA National Competitions are the country's most successful and prestigious student competitions. The Music Teachers National Association Performance competitions aim to provide educational experiences for students and teachers and to recognize exceptionally talented young artists and their teachers in their pursuit of musical excellence. performance evaluation program (PEP)The Performance Evaluation Program (PEP) is a PMTNM-sponsored non-competitive general assessment. The repertoire, dates, and general rules are determined by the PEP Chair. PEP auditions are held at various locations around the state and can be held any time during the year.
Entrants must be studying with a teacher member of SFMTA, and may be of elementary, junior high, or senior high age. There is an adult category for students over the age of 18. You can check the latest news on the PMTNM website or contact Janna Warren, state PEP chair. |

Student recitalsThe Halloween Recital is a fun event where students are invited (but not required) to perform in costume! Students of all levels are invited to share in the festivities.
The Spring Musicale is for students with polished performances. Our students find these Musicales a great goal to work towards during the year! We may have other recitals throughout the year; please check our calendar! |
