SFMTA fosters a cooperative spirit and participation in musical activities among music teachers in Santa Fe and the surrounding area. We promote the study of music for any interested persons in this community and provide opportunities to further students' development through performance and evaluation. We promote and encourage high musical standards.
As music teachers, we are committed to furthering and enhancing our professional education. Our activities include regularly scheduled meetings, professional development through workshops and master classes, the MTNA magazine and PMTNM newsletter, teacher performance opportunities through informal salons, community outreach, recitals, conventions, and concerts. For students, we offer individual teacher studio recitals, an annual SFMTA teacher/student recital, the performance evaluation program (PEP), college and adult recitals, master classes, and ensemble recitals. In addition, there are student competitions at the district, state, and national levels, as well as a sonata contest each spring in our local chapter. You can read our Code of Ethics here. |
